YRC shares lost $1.38, or 7 percent, at $18.47 in midday trading.
YRC closed its acquisition of Shanghai Jiayu Logistics Co. Ltd., one of the largest less-than-truckload carriers in China. The company said its YRC Logistics subsidiary, which oversees international operations, bought 65 percent of Jiayu's stock for $44.7 million. It will buy the remaining shares in 2010 for up to $39 million, depending on Jiayu's financial performance in 2008 and 2009.
Investors shed shares after the Commerce Department said wholesale prices surged in July and the price of oil jumped $2.40 to $115.27 on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after the dollar weakened against the euro, and a rally in heating oil attracted new buyers into energy markets.
